The thought above depends on the day of the year, not on you. Every visitor sees the same one, it changes at midnight, and it comes back on the same date next year. No account, no random draw, no personalised feed: 365 thoughts, a calendar, nothing else.
They come from ancient Indian texts now in the public domain, and from oral traditions with no identifiable author. The English wordings were written for this site from those sources; no modern copyrighted translation is reproduced. Where an attribution is uncertain, the collection page says so instead of picking a side.

A thought on its own loses half of what it says. The Buddhist Dhammapada, Chanakya's political maxims and the hymns of the Rig Veda share neither a period, nor a language, nor a purpose, and they sometimes contradict each other on the same question. The collections put every thought back into the text it came from; the theme pages gather them by question, without smoothing over the disagreements.
